The territory extending from lower Basilicata to the tip of Apulia is characterised by a karstic conformation consisting of ravines generated by the erosion of surface water and dolines and sinkholes that allow water to penetrate into the subsoil. The cave-rich canyons, the site of rock settlements in antiquity, draw an ancient and fascinating landscape.
